Tausende erweisen König Harald die letzte Ehre

Tausende Menschen haben den gestorbenen norwegischen König Harald V. auf dessen letzter Reise zum Königsschloss in Oslo begleitet.

Der Sarg mit dem Monarchen wurde in einem aus mehreren Fahrzeugen bestehenden Trauerzug vom Reichskrankenhaus, in dem der beliebte König am Morgen gestorben war, in Richtung des Schlosses im Zentrum der norwegischen Hauptstadt gefahren. Die Straßen auf Haralds Weg waren trotz strömenden Regens voll von Menschen.

Diese nahmen mit Regenschirmen und teils auch norwegischen Flaggen in der Hand Abschied von Harald. Der neue König Haakon VIII., seine Frau Königin Mette-Marit und die weiteren engsten Angehörigen des gestorbenen Staatsoberhauptes folgten dem Wagen mit dem Sarg in weiteren Fahrzeugen.

Der Sarg mit Haralds Leichnam soll später in der Schlosskapelle aufgebahrt werden. Bürgerinnen und Bürger können dann bis zur Beisetzung Abschied von ihrem langjährigen Monarchen nehmen.

Harald V. starb Freitagfrüh im Alter von 89 Jahren

König Harald war in der Früh im Alter von 89 Jahren gestorben. Kurz nach der Nachricht von seinem Tod versammelten sich zahlreiche Menschen vor dem Königsschloss, um Blumen niederzulegen und gemeinsam zu trauern. Bereits am Donnerstag hatten etliche Menschen vor dem Schloss ausgeharrt, als um den schwer kranken König gebangt wurde.

Bis zur Beisetzung gilt in Norwegen eine Trauerzeit. Am Sonntag finden nach Angaben des Palasts Trauerfeierlichkeiten im ganzen Land statt. Ein Termin zur Beisetzung des Königs steht noch aus.
