Als Folge der Lewy-Körper-Demenz litt er auch an Halluzinationen.
Der Autopsie-Bericht nach dem tragischen Tod von Robin Williams bestätigte, dass sich der Schauspieler selbst das Leben nahm und kein Alkohol oder Drogen im Spiel waren. Doch im Zuge der Untersuchung wurde noch etwas Anderes festgestellt: der Hollywood-Star litt als Parkinson-Begleiterscheinung an der Lewy-Körper-Demenz.
"Mr. Williams hat von der Demenz nichts gewusst, obwohl sie sich bereits merklich in seinem Gehirn verbreitet hatte", hieß es in dem Bericht. Diese Erkrankung soll schließlich zum Selbstmord geführt haben.
Wahrscheinliche Theorie
Denn neben Depressionen und Wahn gehören auch starke Halluzinationen zu den Symptomen, die bei dieser Form der Alters-Demenz häufig auftreten. Dabei haben die Patienten oft schwere Probleme, Familienmitglieder und Freunde wiederzuerkennen und führen fiktive Gespräche mit Personen oder Tieren. Die Familie des 63-Jährigen ist der Meinung, dass die Lewy-Körper-Demenz der Hauptauslöser für Robin Williams' Freitod gewesen sein könnte. Auch die Ärzte halten diese Theorie für wahrscheinlich.
